So from what I read on these forums is that everyone thinks HSU Research produces some of the best subs in the biz, but what I don't see is much talk about their speakers and from looking at the price diff between their subs and speakers is that the reason no one talks about them? Amateur audio just wondering the reason behind the price differences and lack of discussion about HSU speakers.

I'm actually not sure why they don't get talked about more, maybe because they are budget speakers or when people talk about horns they usually are looking at klipsh.

Ive been to the Hsu office before where they have them set up and didnt really know about them yet but I wanted to listen to a mkiii. They put on Lord of the Rings and right away I was like what the hell are these bookshelfs?

When they told me they sell for so cheap I was blown away. They offer incredible HT value. They also go pretty low for their size. I havnt heard them with music but since they are horn speakers I assume thats there weak point.

The HB-1/HC-1 speakers are very good speakers, but, as was said above, Klipsch pretty much has the horn-loaded speaker market cornered, at least for mass production speakers. For whatever reason, some people are afraid of horn-loaded speakers, or they assume that the Hsu's sound just like Klipsch. I don't know that they do sound like Klipsch, as I am not that intimately familiar with Klipsch sound. The Hsu's do terrifically with music and with movies, I mostly use mine for music. They are rear ported speakers though, so they need a little bit of space around them to sound their best, but this gives them pretty good bass for bookshelf speakers. If you are looking for inexpensive bookshelfs that can handle a large room, you will have a hard time finding anything better for the price, in my opinion.

Hsu speakers

I do not regret going with the Hsu HB 1 MK 2 bookshelf speakers for my fronts. THey sound quite nice and "bang for buck" can't be beat.
