HSU by a landslide. Just a larger more powerful subwoofer overall.

I have heard some really good Mirage subs and some not so good. Every sub I've heard from HSU has been awesome. Another vote for HSU.

I believe the STF-2 is more comparable to the Mirage S-10. As a former Mirage S12 owner, I can say the the Omni subs are very good indeed. But, given the choices you listed my vote would easily be the Hsu. Good luck in your decision.

I recently bought a STF-2 for a small room. It is quite impressive. In both music and movies I didn't know what I was missing until the Yamaha started making rattling noises and I bought a HSU. The bottom is fairly deep, clean and musical, not just a one-note boom box.

Honestly, from what I have read here as well as on other forums my vote would easily be the Hsu product. Not sure really how the Mirage S10 performs but can tell you the S12 is awesome. My preference is on MUSIC first and foremost but I also want good ht performance. The S12 has been the most blanced of the two extremes I have owned to date. That is, the S12 was much better musically than both the SVS PB10-NSD and the SVS PB12-NSD. Furthermore, the S12 was just as good as the PB10 with ht. However, the PB12 really kicked but with ht offering more visceral impact down low. Not that the PB10 or the S12 was any slouch. If the S10 performs closely to what the S12 does then the STF-2 would have to be stellar to out do the S10. Perhaps others here can offer more insight than me specifically between these two. Personally, I am ordering a 3.3 tomorrow if that tells you anything. Good luck in your choice. Happy Hunting!!!!! :):)

Hsu Research is well known here as well as many of the other various forums out there. They have been around a while and are highly praised. That has to say something in and of itself. As far as cabling goes, I would recommend you take a close look at the Dayton offerings over at partsexpress.com. Personally, I believe Monster is way over-priced. Lastly, I think the Mirage subs are not known as well as the Hsu offerings. But, I could be wrong.

It is noteworthy that HSU is not online only (though it is cheaper to buy direct from HSU) and they do sell their products in a few select retail stores. We only have one store in town that has them, "Stucky Brothers", which I believe is local only.

Yes, same quality. Spending 50-80 on any Cables is crazy IMO, unless they are 1000 feet long.:D
