Looking to buy a subwoofer and trying to decide between the two. Both are around 250.00 which is the range I'm currently looking to spend. My surronds are the Polk RC60i's. Also, any other suggestions in that range? Room size is 20x14.

I have a big Hsu and love it. I also have an Infinity PS-12 that really kicks butt, its 350 watts, and has a 12" driver and when discontinued was replaced by the PS212

Now I'm a big Hsu fan, but for $300.00 I'd take that Infinity and leave that 8" Hsu alone. The Infinity has more power and a 12" driver that will move more air than an 8". And it goes lower. Normally $479.95, @ $299.00 its a bargain.

Sorry I know nothing of the Polk sub.

Polk's subs aren't exactly top notch, so I would actually say the two you are comparing are a bit closer than it would seem in performance, with the edge in overall quality going to the HSU. I am not familiar with that particular Infinity, but I'm sure it would be a good choice as well.

I can't comment on the Polk but I recently bought a HSU STF-2 and it really cranks. It has deep, well defined bottom, excellent "musicality" and lots of power for video explosions. I'm in a 12 X 14 room and it has enough authority that I had to turn it DOWN.

Thanks for all your advice guys....I'm probably just going to go ahead and order the HSU-STF1.

Although there are many great subs on the market, buying an HSU or SVS is always a great and safe decision. Good luck with it!
