We've been teased with the ongoing promise of the release from Hsu of the High Output VTF. Hasn't discussion about the HO been going on for almost a year, now? Would anyone wish to enlighten me about a realistic release date for the HO versions? Also, and I suppose that this could have been verified at the last CES, any word on whether it's just for the -3, or also the -2 VTF's? (The STF's, even?) Anyone have any clues at to the new units' proposed specs.

Clueless in Oregon

The HO series was announced in Jan. at CES. I believe it is just the VTFs as the "turbo charger" will not be compatible with the STF series.

They been very good at keeping the final specs under wraps. I haven't seen anything since the original announcement.

The Turbo-Charger song (with appologies to Rob Halford).

Without warning some bass is trolling, listen/

You're neighboors condo is defenseless/
How your house shakes when you run for cover/
You can't retreat, I shake like to other.

Then we vibrate together/
We can thump forever/
Increasing output, Reduce the tuning/
The ultimate L-F-E upgrade.

I'm Hsu's Turbo-Charger/

Good morning all,

The STF-3 can be fitted with turbo. The amp needs to be modded to accept the lower ~17-18Hz tune, but that's it.

Release date is still not clear, but hopefully by Christmas.

Finally, we are quite flattered that you wrote a song about the turbocharger, Rock and Roll Ninja :D Thank you all so much for showing so much support and patience and excitement about the new products! We will do our best to return the favor in good time.

Sincerely,

Info from Hsu

Well, as we've received a post from a kind Hsu employee (thanks!), I have nothing to add personally but I thought I'd show you an email I just received today from another Hsu employee (I'm really impressed with this pre-sale customer service here!). Here it go:

Hello Jeff,
There is quite a bit of technical differences between
the STFs and the VTFs:
-For the VTFs, the bass characteristics can be varied
between lower extension(music mode) or higher
headroom(home theater mode).
-The VTFs have more amplifier power than the
STFs(hence more output).
-Between the STF-2 and the VTF-2, the bass extension
profiles are similar but since the VTF-2 has a more
powerful amplifier, it will product more output.

We will not make any MK versions for the STF series,
however, we are coming out soon with our newer
versions of the VTF, called HO(for higher output).
These HO versions will have higher headroom(i.e. amp
power of 350W and 500W) and a turbocharger accessory
which produces much lower bass down to 16HZ! They are
slated for release late Fall this year.
