How's this system? What should I get next?

I just received a sound system from my uncle and was wondering how it is and what I should buy/upgrade/replace.

NAD Compact Disc Player 5340
NAD Stereo Preamplifier 1130
Carver Power Amp M-400a
2x Realistic Optimus T-110 Floorstanding Speakers

I used a pair of Realistic bookshelves for close to 2 decades. A good value, but definitely look to upgrade speakers first. Not even close! Then room treatments next. Everything else is way down the totem pole.

Yep, the speakers would be the 1st to go, the rest I think are keepers until they break down.

You should start a new thread in the speaker section. State your budget, and listening habits. What the system will be primarily used for HT, or Music, and what percent. What type of music mostly. Room size. And what sound qualities appeal to you.
