my wild guesses:
1) less overall distortion, therefore, better SQ
2) more SPL across the board ... especially the low frequencies

but you should email SVS and ask them ...

Yes, i think i will.
I was just kind of a wanted to see if i should get a new Ultra or if it would be worth my wilde to keep my sub and get a nice new amp to go with my speakers, i don't hear alot about The PB 12/2 USD. It sounds real good but i don't have anything to compsre it 2.

Oh Captain, my captain.

I also own the PB12/2 NSD and have heard the PB13-Ultra, and although the PB13 will literrally destroy most other subs (inlcuding the PB12/2) you have to ask yourself is there anything wrong with what you have. I have my gain set at 3 and the bass is deep, clean, tight and any louder and my windows start to flex. So if you want more bass, i would try and adjust the Gain so more and as long as the bass still sounds great, no reason to upgrade. You just saved 1,500.00 (money I would put towards room acoustics, if you have none). If you find the sub you have is not up to snuff (which I would find hard to believe) or have a room so large that even with the gain up, it' s still not enough, then I would upgrade. But just upgrading to have the best of the best is not always the answer, if your sub is already doing a great job. Why spend the money on a sub where you have the gain at 3 when your current would have the same impact set at say 5 or 6. Unless you are suffereing from null voids, then another sub may help tame that (but acoustics could do the same also for alot less.

Thank you, i more or less was just wondering about it because i have never had a chance to listen to the Ultra 13. But as far as mine goes, it does a fine job, i always wonder what if i would have got the Ultra:D

There's quite a delta in sound quality. With your speakers you'll definitely notice and enjoy the upgrade. If you're primarily HT, you'll notice the output and definition, but music is where the rubber meets the road. The differences will be pretty stark. It's all about what's important. If the budget isn't there, stand pat.

Really, as most of the other members have said, it comes down your needs and listening habits. The Ultra will most certainly be a step up in every way: output, response, and sound quality. Whether or not you need or will take advantage of all that depends on how you like to listen and your room. But certainly if your the cost is not object, you will certainly not be disappointed with the Ultra.

Nice response Chopin. I guess I will only dream about the "Ultra". About the only "Ultra" I see in the near future is Michelob. However, it is somewhat hard for me to fathom, because I just got the SVS PB12-Plus and it is phemonmenal so I am sure the Ultra would be phenomenal superb plus! I can believe becuase I had previously thought Klipsch and Def Tech subs sounded good. Little did I know.

Now, just a curiosity question 'How does the Ultra do against the Gotham ?'

Take Care and have an excellent "deep sub bass" Merry Christmas,
