How would a svs sb 13 ultra do against a PSA xv15 or a PSA XS15?

A rough estimate would be comparing what the PB13U can do in sealed mode versus the XV15 over at data-bass.com; judging by PSA's estimates of the XS15's output capabilities, I'd guess it's comparable to the SB13.

One other estimate of the SB13's abilities I've seen mentioned by SVS is that it has a 6dB average advantage over the SB12-NSD, whose measurements are also at data-bass.com.

Thanks Steve.. So what your saying is they aren't very far apart. Would the XV15 have a slight advantage being ported?

It should have an advantage around tuning frequency, which you can see in the CEA2010 burst measurements around 20Hz.

I suppose it wouldn't matter much unless you were listening to your system louder. I don't usually listen too loud, maybe around -30..

Certainly you're not likely to run into the limits of any of the above at lower levels, i.e. -30dB from reference. Of course, there can still be differences due to the FR profiles; the SB13 for instance is optimized for use in smaller spaces where room gain will boost the low end response.

That's another thing I wondered. If a sub like that would benefit me more.

If Tom recommended the XV15 for your situation, I'd trust it's the right tool for the right job. Is there something you feel is lacking from your setup as is?
