Hi to all the experts in the zone,
I have this dilemma about upgading my system. I have a Denon-AVR 4800 and I really love it. But now very soon I am going build my basement and am thinking of getting some new equipment. I have decided to go with Axiom Epic 80 (without Sub) and either Outlaw LFM or SVS sub. Earlier I was ready to budget my preamp/amp for $4000. But then I was wondering if it is really worth it to spend that much on separates. If I buy a good 7 ch amp and use preamp out from Denon. Will it not give me a great sound. Denon has come out with great receivers. Currently AVR-5803 is their flagship but AVR-4800 is considered to be there best for sound quality. Instead of spending lot of money on separats, if I spend that extra money in a good amp and good quality interconnects and improving the acoustics of the room. Do you think will be a great upgrade. AVR-4800 is THX certified but does not have the new formats like Dolby Pro Logic II and DTS Neo:6. Without these, you think I am mising out on something really great. I don't mind spending money on something worth, but do not want to spend it foolishly. So if anyone out there tried the combination of Denon-AVR 4800 as Preout and separate amplifier, please do advice. If you have some interesting suggestions I would be really interested to read it.
Thanks,
