How to set up dual subs with one pre-out?

I want to run 2 powered subs from my Onkyo TX-NR906 which has only 1 sub pre-out. If possible, how would I configure this?

Are they the same sub? If so, the easiest route would just would just get a 1-male to 2-female RCA splitter. I used to run my system this way.

No, they are 10" & 12" and different manufacturers. I just saw the sticky on the Sub Connection Guide. I'll try the splitter unless the difference in subs makes a difference.

Your Onkyo has audyssey which will take care of EQing for multiple subs if you use a Y-cable. Audyssey have even said that they have found EQing multiple subs as 1, after level matching, seems to work best.

The only problem you may run into is if one sub performs much differently than the other.

From Chris @ Audyssey:
It's better to have identical (or very similar) subs. The key finding was that equalizing two subs as "one" gives better results after first time and level aligning them. But, for that to work the subs have to be very close in performance. Since we are using the same correction filter applied to both, if one doesn't go as low it may start to be overdriven.
So, get a Y-cable, level match, and let Audyssey do the rest.

If I were you I would try and run difference bandwidths for the subs...the larger to handle Fmin to Fx, and the smaller to handle Fx to Fcrossover (where x is some intermediate frequency). For example:
Big sub frequency band: 80Hz and lower
Smaller sub: 150Hz to 70 Hz
Crossover frequency: 150 Hz...
just an example and the bandwidth limits would have to be adjusted for you room, personal taste...
might be something to try....
