I have 6 mono bloks and would like to make home theater from them. Is it possible?

I would think so, but you need a preamp/processor that can do surround sound first. What kind of mono blocks do you have? And what do you plan on driving with them?

a lot of the DIY guys use the dd/dts decoder made by technics. goes for around $100-200 on ebay all the time. getting harder to find because they havent been made in a few years. another thing you could use is an inexpensive reciever that has preouts (i got a pioneer off ebay for $175 that has em) and use the reciever as your processor.

cheapest/easiest ways to do it. nobody has been able to do a DIY dd/dts processor because of licensing issues.

I have quad amplifiers. Please can you be more specific in how to conect processor or preamplfier? Thanks, Dan.

Okay, this thread is getting convoluded. Let me try to understand what you really want to do. You have 6 Quad Monoblock amps laying around (or being used in some way) and you want to set up a home theater. You would then need the following:

A preamp/processor that can handle 5.1 or better sound. There are a LOT of these around. What you get is determined by your budget though.

Enough speakers to set up at least 5.1 sound (this means 5 speakers and subwoofer).

Cables to connect all the equipment.

Time and money.

Let me know if this is what you're talking about.

Yes. But how to connect quads with 5.1 receiver? Thanks.

Is The Cambridge Audio V500 Dolby Digital processor good for this game?

Your amplifiers should have RCA type connectors on them.

5 channels of amplification = 5 amplifiers.

Connect your 5.1 preamp outputs to 5 amplifiers, then connect the 5 amplifiers to 5 speakers. The .1 is for your subwoofer, which likely has it's own built in amp.

There are lots of good 5.1 preamps on the market that include A/V switching and other features you may want including 5.1 analog input, analog inputs, surround DSP modes and things like that.

A company like Rotel has a couple of nice models that will go nicely with good amps: http://www.rotel.com/products/surround-sound-processors.htm

Good way to go to maximize versatility and performance.

So, hook up all your equipment to the preamp/processor, hook the pre-outs from the processor to the amps, hook the amps up to your speakers, plug everything in.

Press power 'on' button.

Does your receiver have five pre or tape outs? if not the only way I know to conect it to the five amps is to have attenuators on the speaker outs and that way you would have all of the deficiencies of the built in amp. I think the people answering this thread are thinking that you have a processor not a reciever.
