just wondering what kind of equipment is needed to listen to mp3s that are stored on a 2TB external drive over the home theater... internet radio is also a plus...

ive been trying to find a great deal on a onkyo nc500 but the cheapest ive found is 400...

What about one of the Slim Devices units? I bought the Squeezebox Duet for a great price during Circuit City's collapse. I like it a lot for internet radio pumped through my AV gear - your computer doesn't even have to be on to listen to streaming radio stations or music services. You can also listen to music stored on your computer.

You may want to check out the Roku Soundbridge as well. It will stream internet radio as well as play your PC or MAC music files when connected to your home theatre system.

Just another vote for a Squeezebox/Slim Devices product. Been happy w/ mine for a while. www.slimdevices.com
You'll most likely need a router to connect it to your 'puter...

MVIX or Popcorn Hour are both about $200 and can serve up pretty much any digital media you can throw at it.

XBMC (http://xbmc.org/) is free and open source, and can run on a pretty old computer and looks great.

+1 to popcorn hour.

Or the cheaper Western Digital TV HD Media player. Better audio support.

You won't be disappointed with anything in the Squeezebox line. Everyone I know who has used them has loved them. I have a SB3 myself and on the fence about upgrading to a Transporter.

welp, i ended up digging out my old 60gig zune... the reason it was collection dust is because a switched to linux and there is obviously no zune support...

anyhow i now dual boot just so i can manage my podcasts and mp3s....

id really like to find something for internet radio... :( if only i could find a deal on a onkyo nc500

but for now the zune works great, and it was free.. :)
