I posted this a long time ago but thought I'd repeat it here: a surprisingly attractive solution for hiding or disguising surface wiring is to sew a tube (or tubes) of fabric that is the same as or coordinates with your drapes or upholsery, and run the wires thru that with the cloth tube attached somehow to the wall. Of course, you or someone you know has to know some basic sewing!
I saw it done in a "designer show house" years back to hide AC cords going to wall and ceiling mounted light fixtures in an older home with wet plaster walls and it looked good in rooms with traditional decor (not modern).
Might also have a high WAF, especially if your rig will be in a multi-purpose room.
