how to hook a powered subwoofer to vintage receiver

Hi,
I have a vintage sansui g -5000 receiver. ( https://www.hifiengine.com/manual_library/sansui/g-5000.shtml, http://classicreceivers.com/sansui-g-5000)

I would like to add a powered sub to the equation for better bass. I assume I just go out of speaker b to the speaker inputs on the sub, and then connect my other set of speakers to it, I use both speakers a and b

is this correct?

That, or if the product has a pre-out RCA connection, you can connect that to the subwoofer.

You don't want to use 'RECORD OUT' as those outputs will be fixed level vs. adjusted through volume. I can't tell on that unit what connections are on the back for audio out. I'm expecting what you described makes the most sense.
