how to connect the TWC cisco receiver to the yamaha RX-v581

My Yamaha has 4 HDMI ports.
i connected the hdmi port of the cisco receiver to the HDMI 4 port of the yamaha receiver.. HDMI out from the yamaha receiver connected to TV.
its the kind of same with all the HDMI 1 2 3 ports of the yamaha recievers...with HDMI4 audio and video is better.
speakers were calibrated and verified audio by turning on the radio, its very loud and crisp clear for -30 db.
for same -30 db volume if i switch to TV , its very low.even if i increase to high volume i can see very small difference w..r. to audio.

i need some recommendations as to what i was doing wrong.

in cisco setting i went and changed the setting to dolby digital instead of HDMI..no audio is heard..do i need to use the optical cable for audio instead of hdmi ..will that make difference?

No, changing the means of connection will solve nothing.

There is no standard for the output of a unit. They are all over the map. You do need a different volume setting for practically every device you need. That is just the way things are.
