Can anyone point me in the direction of a website with direction or a walkthrough on how to do it.

Bar none, the best site for DIY audio . That's a direct link to the subs. I built a HT sub myself. 14" x 14" by 14" using a Stryke Audio Av12 and a 500w digital plate amp . It's pretty damn nice.....more than enough boom (if not I also have a 15 stryke audio he with 2 18" PR's and a mackie 2600 amp). It was easy and fun to build.

Has alot of speaker kits and subwoofer kits that you can put together that are almost completely done for you.

And some of them actually sound rather nice for the price. I built a small sub using the 10" reference driver they sell and a 200 watt surplus jbl plate amp. works nice for the cost.
