I have never used a sub that wasn't hooked up directly or only used a single RCA, so I am lost on this one.

Welcome to the forum!

If you have the manual, it might say if you can simply connect to either the left or the right low level input. You can always play it safe and connect both of the subwoofer outputs on the Yamaha to that sub. One output from the Yamaha would connect to the right low level input on the sub, and the other output from the Yamaha would connect to the left low level input on the sub.

Ya no manual, so what are the high level inputs used for?

So then the regular channel outs not the pre amp outs?

If I do that then I will loose 2 speakers, so what channels will I miss the least?

You don't HAVE to use the speaker inputs. It's an either/or sutuation between them and the RCA jacks. Use one or the other.

Look at the diagram on the back- it shows the wires going to the input and the speaker, which assumes the negative is paralleled, too. This would mean that the input impedance is high enough that putting its load in parallel with the speaker's load won't cause the total impedance to drop much. You won't lose any speakers or channels but to make it easier, they could have had a set of high level input and output terminals.

Preferably you should use the subwoofer preout on the Yamaha. If the Yamaha has two subwoofer preouts then you can use both in conjunction with the low level rca inputs. If the receiver only has one subwoofer preout you can get a y-adaptor and a monoraul rca cable to connect to the subwoofer's low level rca inputs.

As explained but to expand on it, you would not lose any channels as then, using the speaker cables from the front left and right channels, the high level out from the sub needs to run to those speakers. The sub would use the low frequency and pass on anything above the sub crossover settings and send it to those speakers.
