How on earth do I get dust off/out of fuzzy earpiece covers on a headset?

I've got a plantronics gamecom headset for my PC, and long story short they got exposed to a fair amount of dust, which now clings persistently to the head and ear cushions. I tried removing the ear covers (the head part does not seem to come off) and soaking them, but it only helped a little.

Any ideas?

I usually stick tape to them and peel them off (the scotch kind that's easy to peel), that seems to do the trick for me. Hope this helps!
