how much wattage do i need for outdoor speakers?

I have an older onkyo 80 watt receiver that I use outside. My cerwin vegas that I have attached to it have had the foam rot due to the weather and age. So, im moving them in side to save for when i need another stereo in doors and want to purchse some outdoor speakers that wont break the bank but push a lot of air and sound good. Any ideas?
What is the minimum number of watts I need to have no risk of blowing them?

Well a budget would be a big help for us to help with recommending a set of speakers. There are quite a few outdoor speaker threads on this forum. Just hit the search link and type in outdoor speakers. Hope this helps.

Depends on the speaker.

I have a pair of Polk Atriums and they sound ok. Not exactly high fidelity, but good enough for the patio

You've mentioned, "push a lot of air and sound good."
So, a small, cheap speaker won't do the job.
Mazersteven made some of the same suggestions I would make.
They are a good start.

which model. i have found 6 pairs of refurbished atrium 55's on ebay that look to be going for aorund 120. they have a good rep

I have the 45's. They're not bad for the price and seem to weather well. Two winters outside and lots of rain.

i listened to the polk atrium 45 and 55's...they didnt seem to have enough base for me. but i did here some pyle 6.5 in that seemed to do the trick and i found some on amazon for 95. for that price i dont think i can go wrong with what i heard at the store today, despite what i have read about pyle on here
