Hi,
I am thinking about buying a Pioneer Elite SC-27 with the ICE amp because I have had heat issues in the past with the Onkyos I have owned. Nothing special I just feel it is time to move on to another brand is all, and Pioneer seems to get some of the best ratings I have read on line. Especially the Elite series of receivers.
The new entertainment center my wife bought me has only a couple of inches avilable on the top of the receiver when it will be installed. I am wondering if this will be enough air space for the new ICE amps to keep it cool. I have central AC, and the design of the new center is open on all sides, just glass shelves really, but the bottom shelf is wood and is the only one made to handle the weight of a big receiver.
Do you think there will be a problem with heat installing the SC27 with only 2 inches of head room? My viewing room is always between 65-70 degrees all summer long. And the Receiver would be sitting less than 2 feet from a main AC vent in the floor.
I never had a problem in this location in the past with my Onkyos in an enclosed cabinet, but I did cut the back out of it for better ventilation. However it was still contained on the other three sides with a shelf aprox 6" above it.
Also the cheapest SC-27 I have found has been on line for aprox $1500.00 including shipping and no sales tax. Does this sound like a good price to you? I know some of you get some amazing deals, but I never seem to find receivers for the prices I find stated on here.

It seems I am always too late.

Thank you in advance for your advice. I have read your posts for some time now and I believe this is the right place to ask this question.
