how would these white van speakers compare with other cheap floor standing speakers..

the specs seem pretty good for how cheap it is.. but its such a fake company, each retailer says.. msrp@ $2500-3500 each, but get the pair for 350.. lol

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5768846934

only wondering because i know someone that has them, and he said they were cheap generic speakers that he bought in a parking lot or somethin, but i came across them on ebay, and it looks like they might not be as shty as i thought. i still know they suck, but how much do they suck.

if they actually targeted the $250 a pair market for floorstanding speakers, would it be a decent deal? or are they just junk. I assumed they were just garbage.

If you like 'em and feel they were worth the price paid, then they don't suck...

...but you must ask yourself what other speakers in that price range, if any, did you compare them with?

Check out your friends...

...if they sound good enough to you and they're not falling apart (or blown)
by now they may be the speakers for you in your price range.

I gotta tell ya though...these guys reek of scam product to me. Not unlike
that famous "Theater Research" scam that was rampant a couple years
back. Check out this thread and beware...

Your M22 are going to blow those away. Digital Audio is a white van scam brand name.

Check this out.

Now these.

Familiar looking. Hmmm.

Now look at these.

And these.

http://www.canyonaudio.com/products.htm

Canyon comes right out and says it: "We currently have distribution facilities located in North America, as well as manufacturing facilities located overseas." Now what are the odds these speakers are being shipped from Japan or China to an LA port?

I have to laugh, because PTS has a speaker that resembles a $12,000 set of Revels. Check it out.

I know someone with a pair of (busted, I think) "Audiofile" white-van-scam speakers stashed away ("Audiofile" seems to be the popular white-van-scam brand around Denver; I've seen towers, satellite systems, subs and so on). They don't look much alike, but they're probably very similar on the inside.

I'll see if I can find some time to take them apart and get some pictures of the insides (if that's possible without sawing them apart). I have yet to see a real photo-disassembly of white-van-scam speakers, so I'm curious myself.

At the very least, I need to get a picture of the rear of them, which lists such impressive features such as "Digital Ready" and "Very Large Magnet Assembly" :p.

I've seen some, sporting a garbage crossover, unshielded drivers, and even a large number of passive radiators where drivers should be. Just a scam, but at least they're pretty.

here's the farm kid in me

why couldnt' you buy a couple decent $50 crossovers and $200 worth of good car speakers and bolt them in and have a , in my opinion really good looking set of matched pretty decent speakers, for $250 a piece, still not a bad price for big rosewood tower speakers, isnt that an idea? or would they sound like crap too? just a naive farm kid talking...

Good Question Parker

I have wondered this myself; why not just pick up some nice drivers and replace the cheap ones? The cabinet is not the weak link in this speaker, and for a couple of hundred more wouldn't you have a really nice speaker?

My fear would be buying those really cool looking china brand towers, and finding out the speakers are glued to the cabinets. Also, finding out these things that look like they weigh 70lbs, weigh 25lbs and are made from 1/4" plywood. A good crossover, dome tweeter, and two solid 6.5" woofers can run you over $400. You can have a much better sounding DV84 BIC or Athena F1 or F2 for much much less.
