Dear friends,

I bought a Bose Acoustimass® 10 Series IV with Yamaha RX-V375 Receiver. I just want to know that out of Bose Acoustimass® 10 home theater speakers, is possible to connect additional 2 front stereo tower speakers from this same receiver? So that I can use Bose Acoustimass® 10 for watching movies and tower speakers for listening music.

Thanks,
Joy Jacob

You can safely only run one set of speakers with your receiver. Besides, how would you select between the two sets?

That is a great receiver for the money. Peace and goodwill.

You can only run one set of speakers through the mains unless you have a speaker switch/slect box which you put between the receiver and both sets of speakers and use the box to select which speakers the receiver is going to drive. That is th eonly way .

As for that A/B selector, I thought of that but then asked myself the question: "How would he disable the center and surrounds when using the big speakers?"

It may happen internally if there is a B terminal pair which I don't believe there is. I checked the back panel according Yammies' website and I didn't see speaker terminals for a B pair.

As for the internal disconnect of center and surrounds, my old Technics SDAX940 AVR would automatically disconnect all surrounds and center channel when I inadvertently selected the B speakers.

If he had an A/B spealer option, this thread most likely wouldn't exist.

I understand this once common feature that isn't so common anymore.

I feel it's a good idea ! Once you want play these tower speakers change the switch to this speakers and change the mode in receiver to 2 channel (Stereo).
If it's not a sensible idea please correct me. If so is there any such a switches available in market?

Thanks,
Joy Jacob

That's actually a good idea. I didn't even think about switching to the stereo mode. Talk about not seeing the forest for the trees.

Here's a selection of speaker selectors available on Amazon.

He should make sure he intercepts the main speaker outputs before it enters the Bose "subwoofer" module. If he does it after, the signal will be devoid of all bass content.

Gee, I thought I had mentioned an external selector switch back in first post ;)

You did, but you fell flat on your face when I asked how you would supress the center and surrounds. Now, had you come back with "simply select the stereo mode", you would have won. Since you didn't and came back with other responses it's obvious you didn't think of it either.

As it is, neither one of us thought of it. Kudos to this guy for thinking outside the box.

I don't see it that way but to each their own I guess.
