My brother's CD player 20+ years old finally bit the dust. So he wants to buy a new one for cheap. Now the CD player I like is the Yamaha CDC-697, it plays SB, and computor generated disc with no problem, that is what I recommend price $247, , but he is wondering if he can get a CD player for a little less that will do the same as the Yamaha. I personally cannot answer that question. I only have experience with two players one also being the Sony W500C Rec/player About $350, and that sometimes has a problems with some computor generated CDs. So is there a CD player for $200 or lower anyone has hands on experience with and recommend? Thanks for your responce!

I have two Sony DVPNS75H's that have played everything I throw at them. CD or DVD, whether computer generated or not makes no difference. The drawback is that since it's a DVD player, the load time is a little longer than a dedicated CD player. Your brother can probably find one on ebay for under $50. Just a note, I feel the sound quality is very good for the price.
