I have an STA910 sony receiver that I am running for my audio but run a separate switching unit for component video, since that was my set up before i added the sony. Now that Blue Ray has won the HD DVD wars, it looks like I need to upgrade my system to Blue ray and switch to HDMI. Any opinions on the STA910 for HDMI video? I am mad I bought the Sony because I bought it for the Digital Media Port Wireless Network Audio Adapter and then found out that that doesn't support most music and barely works, according to reviews. So, I am stuck with the Sony, and want to know how is it for video?
Also (if I want to upgrade), whats the best receiver for under $1,000 for video quality. I have a brand new 52" Aquos LCD that I currently run component video cable to. Audio quality is of second importance and I don't need bells and whistles. Just solid video first, good surround sound second and third would be 2-channel music. Don't need things like pre-outs since if I switched to a separate amp i would probably upgrade the processor as well. Don't need phono either. Don't need multi-room capability. Also, power doesn't matter that much since I have a pair of 10" velodynes running off a 1,250 watt velo amp. Currently running a 5.1 set-up so don't necessarily need 7.1 amplification although I assume anything with good video will have 7.1 capability. Finally, if there is a video only solution that is less than $1,000 so i could keep my existing sony receiver, that would work as well if the sony sucks at video. Used equipment for under $1,000 would work as well if ther is some great high-end receiver for video that has now fallen below $1k used on ebay.
