But coming back to another question. How credible are these professional reviewers? These guys seem to use different music/movies to review new systems every time.
Now there's the million dollar question! I'd like to know when these jokers say "Better than speakers costing 3 times a much" I'd like them to NAME SPEAKERS as otherwise that line means absolutely nothing to me. Best part is, if they did name a speaker brand, I guarantee you'll find a review on that, gee, guess what, says the same thing... and on and on, until your so called giant killer $500 speakers is being compared to a $100,000 speaker, not bloody likely is all I can say about that.
I know one thing about reviewers, they always listen in next to ideal conditions with equipment that would cost more than a home for most people.
Another example, I heard the line array Monster Eleganza speakers once (the 7 footer) - and yes it was that 'Monster' (as in Monster Cable) and to this day they are still one of the best speakers I've heard, yet most people here would bash them just for being Monster speakers without having ever heard them. Heard them twice in the same day, the second time I heard them, they sounded worse than mine.
Oh, the second time was on an older HK 7200 receiver. First time, it was with a McIntosh Universal player, being fed through a McIntosh preamp, to a Sunfire Amp. In other words, it was the difference betweenn a $1500 vs $16,000 worth of equipment. Yeah, HUGE difference to be sure.
So, next time you read a review, pay real close attention to the gear being used, are they using that $45 DVD player through that $400 Pioneer receiver with the 22 gauge speaker wire (not bloody likely)?
Once you factor in everything, you'll get a better idea where the reviewer is coming from.
Ok, rant off. I've never heard the HSU speakers, and as far as I am concerned, though there's nothing wrong with reading reviews, the only opinion that counts is your own. You have to listen to them, in your room with your music/movies, and your gear.
Now, go forth and listen to them for yourself. Damn the reviewer, and what we say
