How does JBL fare these days?

Being that they are owned by Harman also, are they pretty much in the same class as Infinity? I know Infinity isn't anything like they use to be back in the day.

You need to give it more time. It is Sunday and things get kinda slow around here on the weekends.

JBL is still a fine speaker and competes with many others on the market. The Studio L series is very good and i on par with the likes of Paradigm, PSB, B&W, Energy, and many others. The Infinity line is still very good for the money and as good as some of the older stuff.

I'm not sure what you mean about Infinity not being as good as they used to be. IMHO the polycell age was a cruel joke. Their good speakers costed quite a bit more than their base line products, even though they received accolades for their Kappa stuff. Infinitys newest offerings offer great sound at any price. JBL's lower lines leave a lot to be desired, but the Studio L series has definitely received a lot of positive reviews and testimonials.

Thanks guys. I was looking into JBL's ES series as a possibility. I prefer 3-way or 4-way speakers, and they seem to be the only ones in my budget. I suppose I could look more into Polk's Monitor 50's or 60's if the price is right.

I'm just tossing around ideas, and JBL was one of them.

I have a all JBL sound field {and SVS sub} and don't have any complaints at all. Using all "S" series, except my surround backs which are vintage. Found the S312's on Craigs list, came with the 36's as well.

Check out the refurbished Studio L series over at the Harman e-bay store. there are some great deals to be had there.

I noticed E-bay had some Polk dipole surrounds for $149/pair and I think they normally go for around $400.
