O.K., I have a PS3 ( not installed yet). Now, I know it has the blue ray capabilitiy. Does that mean it will only play blue ray or will it play HD DVD's also? If it's a standard DVD will the system bring it up to HD. Can someone break this down for me?

PS3 is a regular DVD and Blu-ray player. It will not play HD DVDs. But it can upconvert regular DVDs to HD resolution (720p, 1080p). While the DVDs will look better upconverted, a BD or HD DVD will always be superior in PQ because they are native 1080p resolution whereas regular DVDs are 480i resolution. What TV and receiver (if any) do you have so that we can recommend you the best way to hook up the PS3.
