How do switch these outlets on!

I just got my yamaha rx v667. I had the htr 5960 before and since it had a switched outlet I was using that outlet on the back running to the belkin av pf60 remote in to turn on the switched outlets on the belkin. Well the rxv667 doesn't have a switched outlet. It has a 12 v trigger out and remote out. How can I connect this rxv 667 to the belkin to activate the switched outlets?

Hi. Instead of using the "Remote AC IN" on the PF60 like you were before, you'll connect the 12V trigger from the RX-V667 to the "DC IN" on the PF60. That should work just like what you had, but using a different connection.

Currently I am just hitting the switch button manually on the pf30. I thought the dc in on the pf30 meant I had to plug the other end into the receiver that has a switch "plug". I can just hook up a 3.5 mm jack to the 12 v trigger out on the receiver? I thought I tried that.

I looked up info on the PF60 (mentioned in your first post). I don't see a trigger on the images of the PF30 that I looked at, but if it has a DC IN, that's the one to use.

You might need to set up the trigger function on your Yamaha. Check out page 94 of the RX-V667 owner's manual.

Thanks for the help. Although I just noticeda bigger problem.. Now that the receiver is all set up I notice I get a steady humming sound through all the speakers eveven when I mute.

That's quite possibly a ground loop.

Do you have all of your gear plugged into the Belkin, both power cords and any TV/network cables?

The sub is not and coax from cable is not plugged into belkin. But unplugged the sub from the wall to check that. I unplugged hdmi and ran optical n noise is gone.

I had a hum in my system, but when I ran the TV coax through my Belkin PF31, it got rid of it. I'm sure that it was because it provided a common ground for all of the connections. All of my gear is plugged into my Belkin, with the exception of my MacBook that is only connected to the receiver through an optical cable.

That didn't help. Here is what I am finding. If I unplug the hdmi from the tv the hum stops. If I turn the tv off the hum stops. I tried a differ hdmi and same thing. Its almost as though the hdmi out to tv is getting interference from the tv fan noise. Any thoughts?

Hmmm. I was getting that same hum from HDMI to the TV, but when I ran the coax through the Belkin, it stopped. I'd say try disconnecting the coax from the TV and seeing if the hum stops. That's just to help step through some more troubleshooting. If you can have the TV connected up to the receiver through HDMI with no hum when the coax isn't connected, then we've narrowed it down.

If you haven't, also try disconnecting the sub (and anything else not plugged into the Belkin) along with the coax. I wouldn't think that the fan in the TV would cause it, but maybe.

Btw, I just woke up out of my haze and looked at your sig - you have the same Belkin that I do (PF31).

Ha ha your right it is pf31 I have. I unplugged the sub n coax w no change. The one hdmi cable is the only thing that stops it.
