How do I hook it all up?

Hey Gang!

I'm brand new to this forum...
One of the reasons I joined is due to having misplaced (lost? ) my user's manuals for my three JVC components.
Even if I did have all of them in hand, they really DO NOT tell you how to hook EVERYTHING up and have it work TOGETHER without pulling my hair out.

Isn't there a "one size fits all" manual or guide book for a situation such as this?
I already have most of the stuff connected, but I feel that things could be greatly improved.

I have a 32" JVC TV, satelite rcvr., Zenith VCR, JVC CD player, JVC DVD player, JVC RX-884V A/V rec'vr.

Sometimes I feel like ripping out all the connectors an starting all over again!

Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated...

The reason you don't find 'all answer' manuals is because of the variations in the way you can hook things up.

1. Does your TV have component video inputs on it?
2. What model is your TV?

I will guess that your TV does NOT have component, but does have s-video connections.

Video Connections:
DVD Player S-Video to Receiver S-Video In
VCR Composite to receiver composite (yellow) in
Sat receiver S-Video (or composite) to receiver composite in

Receiver: S-video out AND composite video out to TV

AUDIO
DVD digital optical (or coax) to digital optical in on receiver
VCR analog left/right (red/white) to receiver analog inputs
Satellite digital (if available) optical (or coax) to digital optical in on receiver
CD player digital optical (or coax) to digital optical in on receiver

That should do it. If I were you, I would strongly recommend visiting the manufacturers website and searching, or emailing their tech support to get .pdf instruction manuals on how to set up each piece of gear so you can get the most out of it.

Since you only listed your receiver model, I believe this is the .pdf for it and it includes detailed information with variations for different equipment to hook up:
