...T.V. is on order, won't be on the wall for about 3 weeks. Will a PS3 play this type of burned disc? I was going to buy a new cd/dvd player, I'll have to be sure the model I choose can run this kind of burnt disc.

yes the ps3 can play this disc. The disk comes in dvd-r or svcd, with the option to download as video_ts, iso, or nrg. jk about already watching the unit
. the idea with the disc is to evenly burn in the phospurs. The video_ts once burned to dvd, will loop, so you just let it play. With my tv i turned the contrast and color up up durning burn in. Make sure if you do the same that no one watches the tv untill the correct settings have been made after the 150hrs. Dialing down the contrast is one of the keys to reduce ir. Im not sure how the pannys setup, but purchase a setup dvd and calibrate the unit to your room. I have 3 settings currently on mine, one for day, one for night, and one for game. Make sure also that you have set the pixel shifting for on.
The hardest part is 5 - 6(100hrs would be the min) days to start the setup and watching. (some will tell you this isnt required, but it will help protect your purchase)
