How Do HDTVs Display Standard Broadcasts?

I am considering buying a Viewsonic 37" LCD flat panel. My concern is that non-HD broadcasts will not display as well as our current CRT.

Do standard CRTs work better on standard broadcasts?

Standard definition broadcasts will not look as good on an HDTV. Depending on the TV, however, they can look very decent. The reason is that the 480i signal must be scaled up to the resolution of the display. This can produce artifacts and a fuzzy picture. It really depends on the scaler in the TV.
