Hi im look to upgrade my current system without spending too much, its getting kind of old but its still really strong

i have a yamaha rx-v595 and 2 mission 732 speakers. right now i mostly use the system for watching movies with friends or throwing parties, but im looking for something thats a little louder with more bass, and hopefully if possible cleaner highs.

I was thinking of buying more speakers to pair with my 732's and would love any suggestions, also i'd be curious if my amp can even handle more?

I would just replace the Mission speakers, or use them as surround speakers at the most. If you want something that can stay cleaner at louder levels, look at Klipsch speakers. The Mission speakers won't contribute much next to a pair of speaker that are substantially more powerful. If you want more bass, look at subwoofers. A couple of these things wouldn't be really expensive, and should do quite a bit better for bass than what you have now.

thanks for the reply! what wattage range should i look for in speakers? since my amp only does 70 watts per channel? ill look into getting a sub i already have a acoustic authority a-3640 sub that i was planning on hooking up since its already in my basement. but i definitely think a proper sub would be better. and that dayton sub would be pretty crazy

Don't look at wattage at all. Look for sensitivity-the more the merrier. This is how usually how loud a speaker can get with 1 watt of power at 1 meter. The speakers determine the loudness of a sound system far more than the amplifier. Sensitivity specs can be gamed though, so you can't always trust that spec. Klipsch speakers over rate their sensitivity, but they still do better than regular speakers.

What is your budget? Are you in the US? I can give you more specific suggestions with that info. Your Yamaha receiver would be fine for simply powering the speaker, if you don't need the latest types of connectivity like HDMI.

i have no need for connectivity i just us an RCA to AUX adapter and hook my laptop or ipod up to the system.

i live in ottawa, canada and go to university there id be willing to spend 200$ max. assuming i can sell the 732's for a decent price like 100$ id have a max of 300$

$200 to $300, ouch! I would be looking for used deals. I don't think you can get something new which is tremendously better than what you have for that much. One thing you might do is look at the local pro-audio stores around you, a lot of them do sell used gear, like Guitar Center (if you have those up there). Some powered monitors can hit pretty high SPLs without losing their composure. This way you can also dump your receiver. Check this place out. Something like these would make your old Yammy rock bigtime.
