Hello, sheep here.

I know how the westlake stuff is the best stuff for the money, as it has been recommended numerous times (I think Jaxvon works for them  ).

I want to know, How big is 10awg wire in millimeters or another metric measurement (no fractions for me!). I want to use it for my setup, and sell my monster crab to some snob. I have banana plugs for my fronts, and bare for rears. I want to make sure it will fit.

Thanks alot guys,

A 10awg wire is 2.58826mm in diameter. However, because the Belden cable is stranded, it's probably a little bigger (small air gaps between conductors). And by "a little bigger", I'm talking a fraction of a milimeter.

Besides, if you're buying Banana plugs, they should specify AWG compatibility. If you're looking at Metric wire guage, the Metric guage is 10 times the diameter in milimeters, so a 10AWG cable that is 2.58826 mm in diameters has a metric guage of 25.8826.

And no, I do NOT work for Westlake. I just find that they have awesome prices on speaker cable and coax, so in the interest of saving money, I recommend them.

Edit: Here's where I got the above info:

So its around 2.6 mm dai. hm, that seems small. As the wire I have now is just about 2mm for the wire, no jacket, and its supposed to be 16awg. But, you know more then I, so I shall take your advice, and thank you for giving it.

Edit: According to your link, I have 12 or 14awg wire. Maybe I shouldn't upgrade. My longest run is 30 feet. All my wires are separated, and isolated from power cords. Am I at risk, or would I be wasting my money?

OH, you mean the overall outer diameter? That figure was for the conductor alone. The outer diameter of Belden's 5T00UP is 9.0424mm. Sorry about that Sheep.

No no, I meant the wire only, no jacket, or anything. I just measured my spare wire, and it was just under 2mm for the wire. Read my edit for my next step.

At that kind of length, you're fine. I actually picked up some 14ga wire from Home Depot and that stuff has GOT to be more than 14ga. I think it's closer to 12ga. Anyway, even if you have 14ga, that's plenty thick for a 30ft run. Remember, that's probably what most of your home circuits are wired with, and those handle a lot more juice than your speaker cables do.

ahh, ok. Its monster, so I don't know whats up with them. They usually never tell Awg, and when they do, its 16 or up.

I took a picture, so you can see what I'm seeing. My measuring tape is on the wire, so you can see the overall Dia. and see it if is really 16awg or not.

Note: the jacket magnifies the size of the internal wire, but you can tell by the overall size of the wire and jacket.
