Correct me if I'm wrong but don't we only use half of our brain at one time? Obviously loosing half will affect mobility (one side controls the opposite side), but I'm not surprised she had a quick recovery.

We actually use most all of our brain at once. Left hemisphere of the brain controls the right side for the body and vice versa. The main reason for the quick recovery in the child was because the human brain is a very ready to adapt organ, especially at young ages. So she in part through therapy and in part through the brains own genius got trained to live with only one half.

I think that is the most important statement that could be made, man kept her alive nothing else. Our technology is what made her live for three extra years otherwise natural life course for the situation would have been played out and she would have passed.

This is what I found the most disturbing about the whole Terry Schiavo debicale.

The people that wanted to keep her "alive" kept saying the people who wanted to let her pass were "playing God".

Seems to me they were the ones playing God by keeping her alive with machines.

Interestingly this is not publicised as loudly as that he awoke from the coma so many years later, only to die a horrible death so soon.
