How about Isolation Platforms and cones, etc.?

Along the lines of cable snake oil, do isolation platforms and cones, such as Vibrapods, do anything? I have seen lots of claims that putting a tube preamp on cones "made the bass tighter and more authoritative, made the soundstage wider" and so on. You know the drill. I can almost see how stopping any vibrations to a CD player might do something, but I don't know.

Any truth at all to these things, or is this just more audiophool marketing?

Lots of claims and I bet zero evidence, especially the claims that can really be measured:D Soundstage is an issue of phase shift both at recording time and by the speakers capability to reproduce them, not an isolation device of cones, total bs and voodoo.
CD player will NOT benefit either, zero. That has been measure and demonstratede by Ken Pohlmann, and published some time back.

No, outside of a turntable, it is not warranted.

Isolation platforms look cool, but they're very expensive for trying, so, keep your actual rack.

Cones used to function well with "vinyl players" (i don't know hoy to say it in English) but actual cones are very expensive so buying a $100 set of cones for a $500 "vinyl player" is a very stupid thing to do. You better use a $20 marble block to insolate unwanted "vibrations" from this world and from the underworld.

What, you don't believe sesemic vibration seriously reduces all those 1's and 0's to sound like music?

I agree. People think this is a joke:mad: Obvioulsy they have never tried to listen to their LPs during a 9.0 earthquake. :D

Very cool animation on standing waves. The product itself is just plain old hogwash. I specially like how body building weights are used as the "Ballast Weight".

I got an even better isolation device for a fraction of the cost,

Problem is for every gimmick or tweak or nifty little audio add-on there is someone or some group out there who claims it works and some who dont.

I could find dozens of articles that lay claim to viobrapods etc..then the next poster can find a ton that dispute my articles.

The only thing I can offer my advice on is..Use at your own risk and let your own mind and testing be your truth.

No different from homeopathic medicines, holistic healing, spiritualists, psychics, etc. But, evidence speakes louder than wishful thinking, right:D

Unfortunaltely, flawed testing and the mind will believe anything, even mythology.:D
