I could care less if Oklahoma leaves the union. More useless posturing...

From just reading the article, I think that is a pretty impressive way to send a message. Kudos to Oklahoma.

Certainly not an Overlord. If you left and took your posts with you, the forum software would probably revert back to vBulletin 2.0.

Whereas if you left and took your avatar with you, the forum...oh, man. I can't even think about that.

I suppose this is so they can teach superstition in science class.

They already do. It's called evolution.

I think I like this step. Somebody or something better wake this country up to what's going on in Wash. The current administration seems to be dividing the country more instead of pulling it back together. Socialization? Bowing to world leaders? Appologizing for American conduct? Giving our best ally's leader an Ipod and not even showing up for a meeting? Now cutting funding for education and Army Corps of Engineers and spending it elsewhere. A full 56% of his budget cuts come from the Pentagon including major cuts in defense systems. Oh, and let's double foreign aid by 2015. I feel safer already.

If you consider evolution to be superstition, why would anyone take the rest of what you say seriously? Do you really reject empiricism or the scientific method? Why do you hate reality?

Seriously, I have no life.
The Obama camp has already stepped well beyond that line.

It's only a matter of time before the public understands what is happening to our country and turns.
I'm not sure that will happen anytime soon, if the reports on the education system are to be believed. Kids need to want to be in school to want to learn, IMO. If they don't want to be there, they'll never get it until long after all of it happens.

Q- "Grampa, why haven't you ever had to go to work, like some of the people I read about"?
A- "Never needed to. The government made sure we had most of what we needed."

Pushing religious dogma on grade school students only serves to insult their intelligence and turn them off from education. If OK really wants to further diminish their education system (well, that is their prerogative), such policy would breed the sort of idiots who end up relying on the state and are unprepared to thrive in the real world.

Then why push Atheism on kids too? I know it's hard for many to see evolution in a religious light, but essentially it's portrayed in atheistic light many times. I could care less if they present intelligent design and evolution. What is silly is only giving one view. That's limiting the exposure of kids to the world.

Intelligent Design doesn't necessarily imply religious belief. Just like we engineer things everyday it makes sense that another being even one equal to us in many ways could have engineered the earth. Of course both views aren't mutually exclusive as such I've come to the conclusion that we evolved through the guidance of intelligent design. This lines up with science and my own personal religious views. My beliefs fills in the gaps of evolution while understanding the beauty of the process.

Quite the contrary. I love science. I don't believe evolution has been proven, hence it still being a theory. I will say that; a) I am a Christian and yes, I believe in God as our creator. How he chose to bring it about is still up for debate, but not the fact He created the world and all in it, b) I'm not stupid and, c) this has been beaten to death in a couple of other threads that were very long and very closed. Dare we stroll very far down this path the same fate awaits this thread as most folks cannot discuss it civilly.
As for being taken seriously, when I mention the fact I am a Christian most often people who are not automatically think I'm an uneducated person that has been duped into believing ficticous writings and cannot possibly offer anything worthwhile. This is not a personal attack on you, but has been my experience in general.
Sorry to all for the OT.
Back on topic, I think this is interesting and am curious to see how this pans out.

I think this is a perspective probably not shared by folks here. This forum is made up of many intelligent respectful folks that realize they don't have all the answers. I think the comment was mainly an attack against the right wing. Not a religious one. Christians are actually split down the middle between democrats and republicans in my experience. But the ones he's referring too have a bit more power than I would like.
