Hi,
I have bought a Yamaha RX-V2400. I have placed it in a cabinet together with my DVD and my VCR. After playing the receiver for 40 minutes the receiver became hot. It says in the manual that you should have 20cm on each side and 30cm on top free for circulation. But my audio rack is a closed system. In the front there are two glass doors and every other side is closed with wood. This means that i have around something about 6cm and on top aprox 2cm and then the DVD and VCR on top on a glass shelf.

Does anyone have any idea's about how to keep the yamaha cool because i'm playing with the thought of returning the Amp.

I hope its understanduble because my english isn't that good.

Thanks

I'd say get a couple of small fans to circulate the air.

Does it just get hot? Or does it get hot and shut off? It is normal for receivers to get hot while using them.

I have nearly the identical cabinet to what you described and I don't have any problems with heat at all. I did remove the back of the wall unit so there is significant airflow available that way. I do have the 6" recommended clearance above and about 2-3" per side.

Some receivers just run hot but my Onkyo does not get more than lukewarm in my setup. You could try to open up the back of the cabinet a bit, or drill holes for airflow. Also open the glass doors if you are going to be running it hard for a long time.

Hi,
I have placed the DVD player 4cm higher without the glass shelff. I then placed a thermometer an the receiver on the fans opening and it got very soon to 47Gr Celsius.
