Hot Home Theater Loudspeaker Recommendation Tip

To compliment the Yamaha RX-V-2500 / Emotiva MPS-1 Separates Package we recommended in our forums last month, we suggest the following speaker package:
  • RBH Sound 661-SER ($2000/pr) as LCR’s (similar to 661-SE but with Status Driver Upgrades)
  • RBH Sound 61-SE ($999/pr) as Side Channels
    * use the 66-SE Bipole Solution for lower profile installs where wall space is an issue.
  • RBH Sound 61-SE ($999/pr) Back Channels or Rear surrounds for DVD-A/SACD
  • Axiom Audio EP500 ($1,150) use 2 EP500s in larger rooms
    * custom finishes available for around 20% more....
The RBH Sound Signature SER series feature Status Acoustics driver upgrades which make them a phenomenally performing speaker for music and movies, unrivalled in their price class. The Axiom EP500 (see specifications) class leading performance, and ultra low bass extension compliments this system nicely. Though, for ultimate slam and uniform bass distribution in your listening room, we recommend two EP500’s.

For around $10K you get the quality and flexibility of a separates system with ultra high performance loudspeakers that serve music and home theater without compromise while also being aesthetically pleasing with a high WAF.

Question on SER

Does the whole signature series now come with the SER driver upgrades? It's not on their website. Would any dealers have them to demo?

Sigh. I've been shopping for a 5 channel speaker system for months now, and I feel no closer than when I started. :(

One of the things to keep in mind when shopping for speakers is that there are no perfect speakers no matter what your price range. Each has it's own assets and each has it's own drawbacks. I suggest you decide out what qualities are most important to you and try to narrow the field of competitors by eliminating those that don't have those "deal breaker" qualities. Then try to audition top contenders at home. Hopefully at this point a winner will emerge. Thats my thinking.

Yeah, I know you're right. The problem has been simultaneously pleasing both my and my wife's tastes without spending an unreasonable amount, which has proven a bit challenging. So it looks like Dali Euphonia for me.

No Man,

This is the same advice my mother-in-law gave her daughter.
