Hopefully an Easy Question

This is slightly off-topic to the standard DIY speaker builds, but hopefully you will have some insight.

I have two pair of Peavey 1545M wedge stage monitors. They are a pretty simple design (two way speakers, a titanium horn and 15" woofer, crossed over at around 2500 Hz). Unfortunately, the horns on one pair are black, and the horns on the other pair are white.

I am anal retentive enough that this is making me nuts (I think my stage looks bad, and since I only run sound, I want the musicians playing to be as happy as the people listening to the music). As these horns are easily separated from the drivers, would it be a bad thing to hit them with some paint to get the white horns black, and all the speakers would match in their look? Would this do any damage to the horns?

Hopefully you can remove the drivers from the horn throat. I doubt it would make an audible difference. Have you contacted the manufacturer about a replacement in black?

You can remove the driver from the horn.

I am considering replacing the horns, and after more research I found they are still available. However, for the short term I believe I will try it - until I can talk the "finance department" (translated: wife) into allowing me to spend more cash on my money pit hobby.

Thanks for your thoughts.

When she said, "till death do us part," she meant it.

She knows the combination to the gun safe!
