I was helping my friend set up his home theater system yesterday, and I came across a problem that I can not explain. The DVD player and xbox showed up fine when connected to video 1, however they weren't working on video 2. I was trying to connect his dvd player to his tv, with component video however the picture always came up green. I tried every combinationg I could to get them both hooked up, but nothing worked.

Then, I stumbled across this way to hook up his dvd player to video 2. I had to connect the video cable from the dvd player to the tv. Then, I had to either take the CB or CR cable and connect it from DVD out to the TV out port. And the TV out section isnt designed to take component video.

So, to summarize, I had to connect a component cable from the DVD out to the TV out, and the TV out wasn't a component hook up.

Can somebody please explain this to me, I have no idea why this is and it made me very mad that's the way I had to make it work. I even lost sleep last night.

We'd need more specifics to help. The brands and models of all of the equipment involved, and more specifics about the cabling layout. But off hand it sounds like the processor/amp (or whatever you're hooking it up to) is malfunctioning.
