Hooking up wires to a Bogen Amp

The wires from the back of a Bogen C60 amplifier have disattached. There are two wires. I also counted 8 speakers in the facility and the system is a Muzak system. Which connections do these wires go to?

Welcome to the forum!

Here is a link to the owner's manual for that amplifier, and that might help you figure out where the wire go. We'll be happy to help you through it, as well.

Check out the diagram on page 5 (which is page 7 of the PDF file) that shows the speaker connections. Look on your amp and see if the metal link between the 4-ohm and LINK terminals is gone. That might be a good clue that the wires were connected to the 4-ohm terminal and the GND terminal. I hope that others here chime in before you start connecting things up, though - I'm not familiar with that system.

My spidey sense telle me that with that many speakers involved, it woud be the 70v tap and the common next to it. If this is the case, the speakers would each have a transformer on them.

But, you could always check to see which terminals on the back of the amp appear to be a bit loose

That amp can be hooked up many ways.
It's all determined by what speakers are being used.
Mark is on to something.
You'll have to go to one of the speakers and see what tap is being used on the transformer that's attached to the speaker.

So to make the hook up, one wire will go to 'Common' (on the amp) the other will go to whatever tap was used on the transformer.
Could be 25V, or 70V (on the amp)

Seriously, I have no life.
I think this will be a 70 volt system. 70 volt systems are the most common in PA practice, with 100 volt getting more common. This however uses the 70 volt system.

These are the rules for 70 volt systems.

The power of this amp is 60 watts.

There will be a transformer on every speaker. The transformer taps will be marked in watts.

The watt tapping will determine the max amount of power that will be fed to that speaker.

When you add up all the taps for the eight speakers, the sum of the taps must add up to 60 watts. That way the system will work optimally.

Connect the speaker wire that feeds the eight speakers to the 70 volt and ground/com.
