I have an Onkyo TX-DS676 and I'm hooking up surround sound in my room. I have four surround sound speakers. will it be bad to hook up two speakers to one speaker terminal?

heh... not really. just dont overload the receiver and blast it. I mean, obviously your not SUPPOSED to, but w/e, it wouldnt really hurt. i take it you have a stereo receiver and not a surround sound one

its a 5.1 channel reciever. I've got my 2 front speakers, a center speaker, and 4 surround speakers. just curious if it would be horrible to my reciever to hook 4 speakers to 2 speaker terminals.

maybe... maybe not.

A lot of amps don't tolerate low impedances, which is what two speakers on one terminal will do.

What is the amp rated for and what are the impedances of the two speakers?

2 are 35 watt 16 ohm and the other two are 25 watt 8 ohm. the amp can handle 6 ohm speakers

should I hook up one 16 ohm and one 8 ohm to each terminal so the ohm's don't get too low?

Well I don't have surround sound on my reciever, but I've hooked up two 4 ohms speakers, to one terminal, and it sounds fine. It only effects mine when I have 3 or more... which is why I don't do it.

HELP! Powered speakers to surround sound receiver!?!

 Does anyone have an idea?

I have a Sony surround receiver...I have two powered Event monitor speakers that I want to use as my fronts...the inputs in the back of the speakers only allow XLR, 1/4 inch and an unbalanced single RCA input. On the back of the receiver there are only wire inputs for speakers...is there anything I can do to make this work?

I would do that just to be on the safe side. But if it doesn't get loud enough for you, then put the two 8 ohm speakers together, and the two 16 ohm speakers together.

This will present a 5 1/3 ohm load, but that is just a general number. If you have the speakers curves you will be able to see where (at what frequencies) there may be a problem. Generally, the lower the frequency, the more powered required from the amp. So if both speakers have a dip within an octave of each other, the amp may clip.
