Hello everyone, its been a while since I've posted but now I'm back with a new dilemna...lol. I currently have two Onkyo receivers, a tx 609 home theater receiever downstairs and an 8050 stereo reciever upstairs in the main living room. On the 609 I like to use the front HDMI port to plug in my laptop to watch and listen to music videos on youtube. Upstairs with the 8050 is where i entertain with parties and I would like to get the youtube sound through the 8050. I am currently setup to wirelessly stream internet radio on the 8050 if that makes any difference. I know i can use an RCA stereo to headphones cord to connect the laptop to an auxillary port on the 8050 but when I do this my computer speakers stay on and I cannot figure out how to shut them off with out shutting off the output signal. I thought about trying to plug the computer into the front usb on the reciever but that is only for stored files, right? Any suggestions on how I can get the youtube sound to the reciever?

Thanks

Jon

Headphones out from the laptop are not the best for sound quality, so it is fortuitous that you can't use it.

Any USB sound card with digital outs will give you cleanest sound and minimum digital to analog conversions.

Also look at Audioengine W3 sender and receiver.

Take the sound out of your PC/laptop (3.5mm male to (2) RCA male cable) and connect to any available 2 analog channel input (DVD, Aux, CD, etc.) on the Onkyo, if you don't have an optical output on your PC/laptop. If you have any issues with RF or EMF inductance noise, just add an isolation transformer like this.
