I'm not sure how to do this, I've got a yamaha htr5760/rxv650 and I wanted to hook it up to my tv speakers, I noticed it has a monitor out but no audio outs except for vcr. How do I get an audio out for all equipment to output to tv speakers, do I use the pre out front(l+r) to attach to my tv's speakers and use them as fronts, that'd be fine...I really don't know and the manual doesnt seem to even mention anything about a tv at all. Thanks.

Actually, I just found out I can use the tape deck(record out) out from the manual, also. Would using the pre out be improper or It's just a line out like the tape deck out?

I'm just curious what kind of TV you have because to me hooking up a good receiver to TV speakers is like buying a Ferrari and installing a lawnmower engine in it. (Sorry, that was the best analogy I could think of.) ;)

Shadow has a point.

The Preamp out is a better bet because it will vary the signal when you turn the volume on the receiver. The tape deck out will work but you'll have to fiddle with the TV volume control instead.

I hooked it up and it does ruin the system, my main goal is to hook it up to the tv speakers (2 of them, stereo, 2" one ways on a 27" mitsubishi tube box style tv 1993) for very low level night listening because sometimes even the center alone can really bother them. I didn't realize how terrible the tv speakers were until I tried to integate them, but they have a superlow volume capacity. Thanks shadowferret because I might need that option too to tweak later. Thanks for the help.

Yes, true, but.... there are times when it is best to run the sound of the DVD through the TV rather than the HT system.

A couple of suggestions:

1) Do it yourself DVD's

2) Adult videos (I wouldnt want to have to compete with a full set of sound effects through the HT)

3) Late night movies (Casablanca etc lots of dialogue no sound effects).
