hook up two receivers to an equalizer

is it possible to hook up one graphic equalizer to 2 different receivers?

Can i use 2 y adapters for rca inputs to split the signal to two receiver's monitor/tape2 rca's?

Stack two receivers with one eq on top. Then use monitor buttons on each receiver. Would that work? Or do i need two eq's?

Also, somebody said you can't use an eq with a surround system. My Pioneer VSX-D601 (an amazing receiver in my opinion) seems to work just fine in surround mode with my equalizer. Does the eq render the surround useless? Am i missing something here?

Thanks for the help.

No and No.

You cannot connect an equalizer to two receivers of any type simultaneously. It nmay work but I can think of several problems that could possibly cause it to fail.

Most, actually all, DD/DTD digitally based AV recevers*, that I've seen cannot accept an equalizer because they lack a true "tape monitor" circuit which break the circuit, sends the signal out to the eq, and then right back into the receiver where it left.

Plus, consumer eq's only handle two channels. AVR's have five or more channels.

DPL, or Dolby Pro Locic, based receivers are a different animal and may allow it. They are matrixed, not discrete, systems which work off an analog two channel signal.
