Hi. I have read countless articles on home theatre setup on the audioholics website. A year ago I bought a rxv667 Yamaha receiver along with Monitor Audio M Series speakers. I have the M 4s M1s, M centre and the MW10. I use the auto setup with the receiver. I always get the fronts set to large as well as the surrounds but the center channel gets set to small with a crossover of 160Hz. It sounds good to me. Now I have also changed everything to small and the sub crossover to 80. What would people recommend? According to most articles, everything should be set to small and a crossover set to 80. Any opinions?

Yep for speakers small 80hz, center 100hz and sub at 120hz. That's how mine is setup. What is your db settings?

So what we are saying is that the original setting that the YAPO had for the Yamaha system of, fronts set to large, surrounds set to large and center set to small with a crossover of 160HZ is not a good choice? What does setting the fronts to large really do?

Thanks

If you set the fronts to small with a 80 or 100 crossover it will let your receiver focus more on the high and mids and not spend all the power trying to produce the lows which a good sub should be doing anyways IMHO. If you have 300 watt brink amps thats not a concern but on a lower power amp I think its best to set at small and use a good sub.
