Homemade enclosure for in-wall/ceiling install

will soon be installing Polk TC80i's into ceiling.
I notice they sell prefab audio enclosures for these, but only for use in new construction.

My question, has anyone, or does anyone know if there'd be a benefit in constructing my own boxes. i did see one post with pictures of someone doing this. Seems like it would be easy to do as i have easy access from the attic.

lastly, if this is recommended/desired, any idea how biq the enclosure should be? speakers are 8" round.

thanks,

Hello
If you have the attic space and want to prevent sound transmission from the in-ceiling speakers
You can build a cheap back box using Sono tube sold at Home depot. The Sono tube can be found in the lumber department next to the concrete it costs about $10 for a 10 inch round 6-foot section.

Cut the tube into equal sections and loosely stuff the sections with insulation mount each section with small " L" brackets above the speaker cut out.

If you want to get fancy and install end caps, you can purchase (4) round precut pieces of particle board or plywood also found in the lumber dept they fit perfectly in the end on the tube and all you need to do is fasten them with short deck screws

Or if you are not a DIY peson you can buy pre-made back boxes for about $100 for 4
