home theatre suuround package, help.

After alot of time picking a receiver and still not quite sure, I'm looking at a surround package. I'm Canadian eh, and have been looking at futureshop.ca. They have a bunch of packages in my price range of $700.00. I need help picking from lot's of top brands ie. JBL, Infinity, Polk, etc. The receiver will be a Yamaha XVR750, Denon 1905, or Pioneer 1014.

I heard a polk surround package before. Pretty decent. Plus, the satellite speakers have substantial weight, never expected such small speakers to weigh that much, felt like there was lead in there.

As a fellow canadian, I would have to say take a look at a specialized audio store. I would strongly suggest looking at Paradigm since they are a canadian company and are an amazing value here since don't have to import them. The yammie and denon are better matches with paradigm, i would suggest splurging for a yammie 1400 which you can find for 899. For paradigm i would look at the performance or monitor series! Any more questions about paradigm just ask, i had Precision Acoustics from best buy and the paradigms are WAY better, and i also listened to the infinity (nothing special), the jbl northridge series are okay, but i think bang for the buck look at the paradigm monitor 7s which can be had for like 700 as they are now coming out with a new model! good luck listening

I'd look at the Onkyo 770 package if you want 6.1 or maybe go to bestpriceaudiovideo.com and put together an athena package.

if you were thinking Infinity, skip the pre-made package and go to crutchfield.com. With your budget you might be able to get the Alpha 20 bookshelf speakers ($ 200 USD), the Alpha Center ($ 150), and one of their subs ($ 299 to 499). This would qualify you for free Inifinty 150 surround speakers (normally $ 90 each) and free shipping. this group would give you a much more solid sound for both movies and HT than any of their HT packages.

you might also check out the Fosgate packages at accessories4less.com. they start around $ 550 USD.

the 1400 is being replaced now with the 1500, so you can get it for only $100 more than the 750! The 1400 has a bit bigger power supply, as well as less total harmonic distortion. Just sounds better to my ears! Have a listen, maybe the 750 is all you need, but the steal right now is the 1400!
