Home Theater Speaker Wire Question

Hello All,
I have a home theater system that I am very happy with. Recently, I have been learning very much about the world of audio. Actually I should say the complex world of audio. Anyways, my question is this: I want to get new speaker wire for my Boston Acoustic VR940's (L and R) and VR920 (Center). I am wondering if I should change my wiring to larger gage (12 -14) speaker wire or go with some higher end wiring? After all, I use my system for DVD's 85-95% of the time. Also, my surround speakers (Bostons also) are wired to really crappy wiring but they are in wall. Should I put new wiring for them also or just leave it because as I have been told, not very much info gets passed to the surrounds anyways?

Thanks...

Questions:

How far are your wiring runs?
What kind of wattage are you running to your surrounds?

As a general rule, for longer runs, you should use 12GA speaker cable. Fourteen is fine for shorter ones (<50).

What gauge wiring are you using now for your surrounds, fronts, and center? I wouldn't use anything smaller than 14 ga (12 would be better), and I'd read the snake oil articles and cable comparisons on this website before I dropped any serious coin on "high end" cable.

Bryan...'course, that's just my 2 cents...

get some 10 or 12 gage wire that runs anywhere from thirty to sixty five cents a foot... if you feel the urge to spend more, still buy this and send the rest to some decent charity..

I am partial to Radio Shack 14 gage because there is a store near me, it works as well as any speaker wire regardless of price and it's inexpensive. I think that pretty much covers it for me.
