Home Theater Sound on a Budget...HELP

Hey,
I'm looking for a 5.1 sound system for a maximum price of $3000. Looking for a reciever, universal disc player, and speakers. The room is not that big, so I'm not looking for anything super loud, just awesome sound quality. Thanks

This is my first home theater, so I have very little experience in this field. Floorstanding fronts are fine for size.

If the room isn't that big, then I think you could do quite well with bookshelves. A good option in your price range would be a system built around the Axiom Audio M22Ti speakers. Here's one of MANY options:
