Home theater setup - TV sound does not come in the speakers

I have connected my first home theater - per instructions.

Out from the receiver to the TV input.
Satellite from the AVR receiver to the SAT Box
BD to Bluray player.

When I play a movie on the Bluray player, the sounds comes out of the speakers.
When I play a movie from the satellite receiver, the sound comes out from the receiver.

But, when I play a netflix movie from my TV app, or music from my home network via the TV DLNA the sounds come out of the TV and do not go through the receiver/speakers.

Sorry, this may be a dumb question, but followed the setup instructions as is.

Any ideas of what I may be doing wrong?

Found out the solution...hope this helps others. All I did was set the HDMI control to ON on my receiver and that did the trick -- Learning

Good show. I found out that when I aquire a piece of equipment, there seems to always be something that needs to be "switched on" during set up. Many times, it's never obvious until something goes wrong at the start.
